The Fallon Pride by Reagan O’Neal (Robert Jordan better known for writing The Wheel of Time fantasy novels) is a book set around 1800 and includes the War of 1812. I enjoy how snippets of historical fact are smattered throughout this book. I especially love the portions of this book talking about how many of the politicians of the time (Alexander Hamilton , Aaron Burr , etc.) believed New Orleans should belong to the United States. It is easy to see how the Louisiana Purchase happened with the thought leaders having these beliefs. This book also has a lot of great early 1800s sailing ship scenes. Altogether an enjoyable read. It is the second book of a trilogy, but I have only read this book so reading them out of order does not create a problem.
