A Game for Heroes by Jack Higgins takes place during World War II. Towards the end of the war, the British Channel Islands are still occupied by the Nazis and they must be removed. An English agent and a band of Americans join together to defeat the enemy who will battle on even after Germany has fallen. An interesting fact about the Channel Islands is that they are British crown dependencies, but not part of the United Kingdom.
