The Hanging Tree is the 269th book in the Gunsmith Series by J. R. Roberts. In this book, Clint Adams, the Gunsmith, comes across a rustler that has been hung by vigilantes, without a trial. This does not sit well with the Gunsmith and he connects with a Texas Ranger, Jack First, to hunt down the vigilantes. This book has a lot of short chapters and it is interesting because there are blank pages before each chapter. I’ve heard that publishing has some odd number of pages where it is possible to publish a longer book cheaper than a shorter one.

As you can imagine, Clint will stop the outlaws one at a time or in groups.

Wagon Train to Hell is the 99^th book in the Gunsmith Series by J. R. Roberts. This might be the worst book I have read in this series. Every once in a while there is a clunker in the series. This is one of them. Clint Adams, the Gunsmith, meets up with a wagon train heading west and acts as its scout. Number one, this is not really what the Gunsmith is good at. There is a bit of intrigue in this one around selling guns to Indians, but really don’t bother with this book.

Clint is not about to have one of his friends railroaded.

In this book, the Gunsmith is tempted to join a group of vigilantes led by Ben Farmer who are taking the law into their own hands and taking out murders and outlaws. The presence of one of the Gunsmith’s old flames, Anne Archer doesn’t hurt. But Clint Adams has never been one to be a vigilante and he stays on the right side of the law and the legal process.

A chindi is trying to scare Tom off of his land and when Tom and his new wife are murdered, the Gunsmith will not rest until the murderer is brought to justice.

As you can imagine, Clint doesn’t take too kindly to that.

There is a local ranch owner who wants their land and it is up to the Gunsmith to stop him. Along the way, the rancher, Tom Kennedy, hires a would be gunslick, Trey Hatcher, to take out the Gunsmith. As you can guess by the fact that there are a lot more Gunsmith books, it doesn’t work.

Clint must get to the bottom of the mysterious and deadly events.

The Hanging Judge is the 106^th book in The Gunsmith Series by J. R. Roberts. In this book, Clint Adams, The Gunsmith, heads to Fort Smith, Arkansas, the location of the famous Judge Isaac Parker, The Hanging Judge. Clint performs a task for Judge Parker, albeit unwillingly.

The interesting thing about Judge Parker is he really didn’t hang that many people compared to others in his era (79 in 21 years), especially considering that his jurisdiction was a very lawless area.

In this book, Clint Adams, The Gunsmith, has to babysit a Russian baron, traveling the West for a buffalo hunt and to see “American Indians”. Along the way, Clint must solve a series of murders. This is a typical Gunsmith book and a good one.

Clint Adams has been tasked by Don Carlos to determine if it is really Travis. The old man has the scar in the same spot as the theoretical bullet that killed Travis, but is it the real thing?
