Rangeland Hercules is a Floating Outfit Story by J. T. Edson. This book tells the tale of some of Mark Counter’s amazing strength. However, don’t mistake Counter’s strength with missing intelligence. Counter knows how to point out a crooked card game or banker and he is not one to allow the innocent to be taken advantage of. The rest of the Floating Outfit really do not have much of a part in this book. It is really a Mark Counter book on his own.

The Quest for Bowie’s Blade is a Floating Outfit Story by J. T. Edson. The Bowie blade we are talking about is James Bowie’s Bowie knife that was rumored to have been taken from Bowie at the Alamo. The Ysabel Kid heads to Mexico to return the knife home. This book brings in both Belle Boyd and Belle Starr.

In this book, Mark Counter provides a good deed using his amazing strength and he is forced to stay as a result of his own actions “for his own benefit”. Now Mark must survive including fighting Il Bruto. This book also brings in Calamity Jane which is always fun.

The Devil Gun by J. T. Edson is a Floating Outfit Story. This is a Civil War timeframe story with Captain Dusty Fog. In this book, the Union army has decided to hand over a machine gun over to Texas Indians to create chaos. Dusty Fog learns of the plan and must work with a Union officer to prevent the plan from coming to fruition.

The Floating Outfit Stories by J.T. Edson are a set of books around Ole Devil Hardin’s O.D. Connected ranch’s roaming cowboys. The three main characters, Dusty Fog, Mark Counter, and The Ysabel Kid, set off around the West troubleshooting. These books are supposedly loosely based on real history, but I have no idea if that is true. Either way, each of these books is entertaining. It is especially interesting because J.T. Edson is an Englishman writing about the American West. Some of these books were written 40 years ago; however, they are still entertaining.

The Rebel Spy is a Floating Outfit story by J.T. Edson . In this book, Dusty Fog must work with Belle Boyd to break up a Northern spy counterfeiting ring during the Civil War. The ring is discovered after Dusty and the Texas Light Cavalry makes a raid across enemy lines and ends up capturing a trunk full of confederate money. This is a good book.
