Alpha Strike is the 8^th book in the Carrier series by Keith Douglass. One might think that “Alpha Strike” would be the first book, but what do I know. This book involves a fight over the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea. The Chinese are making their play for the resource rich islands. Tombstone Magruder and the crew of the USS Jefferson must protect the United States’ interests even if it means a shooting war with China.

Typhoon Season is the 14^th book in the Carrier Series by Keith Douglass. In this book, an American yacht has a run in with the Chinese military. The USS Jefferson is in the area to either avert a war between China and the United States or to fire the first shots. To help matters, Tombstone is sent to Hong Kong where he is promptly abducted. Now the Chinese have a senior US Admiral in their custody.

The Carrier Series is a very good series of books based on modern United States aircraft carrier warfare. This series follows the career of Tombstone Magruder and also throws in other characters from a carrier battle group including, Batman Wayne, Bird Dog Robinson, and Lab Rat Busby. I have read these books completely out of order. They are better reads in order unlike some series.

Chain of Command is the twelfth book in the Carrier Series by Keith Douglass. In this book, Tombstone Magruder is still trying to track down what happened to his father. He can get answers, but at a price. Will Tombstone pay it? While he is there, the communists send a missile at the USS Jefferson. Tombstone is right in the middle of another potential Vietnam War.

Carrier: The Art of War #17 by Keith Douglass

The Carrier series by Keith Douglass is a very good series of books based on modern United States aircraft carrier warfare. The Art of War is number 17 in the Carrier series. I have read these books completely out of order. They are better reads in order unlike some series (Gunsmith). In the Art of War (not to be confused with Sun Tzu’s Art of War ) the Jefferson Carrier Group is in the Persian Gulf. This book is a good example of what could happen if tensions with Iran escalated. Rear Admiral Tombstone Magruder leads the carrier in another set of tense, action-packed engagements. This is a good read.
