			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0515090212/stuffpeopleread-20">The Lieutenants</a> is the first book in the <a href="http://www.stuffpeopleread.com/2009/02/brotherhood-war-series-web-griffin/">Brotherhood of War Series</a> by <a href="http://www.webgriffin.com">W.E.B. Griffin</a> .  In this book we are introduced to the characters that take us through the series.  The series starts in 1943 in Africa in a tank brigade.  One of the things I love about the characters in this book is that they do what needs to be done and regulations be damned.  They push the envelope of military right and wrong and chain of command.  That is not typically the way the military works, but these guys get the job done without regard to whether it will cost them a promotion down the road.  This is a good book.</p>

Griffin</a> takes a set of characters from shavetail Lieutenants in <a href="http://www.wwiimemorial.com">World War II </a> through their progression in the United States Army.  It takes in the good, the bad, the loves, the loss and everything else that goes along with life and the military.  These books are very good, classic military fiction and entertaining.  Like many series, these are best to read in order, but as you can imagine, I did not follow my own advice.</p>
