Savage Territory is the fourth book in the Matt Jenson: The Last Mountain Man Series by William W. Johnstone with J. A. Johnstone. In this book, Matt Jensen grants a dying friend, Lee Marcus’, wish to take a bankroll to Marcus’ brother in St. Louis. Jensen must head to the Arizona Territory when Marcus’ brother has moved. During his travels tracking down Marcus, Matt runs into a rich Easterner, Jay Peerless Bixby, and his wife, Cynthia Bixby, who are land prospectors. Cynthia is grabbed by Apaches and Matt must get her back before they kill her. Oh and during all of this, Matt has to take out Lee Marcus’ killer, Pogue Willis.

Violence of the Mountain Man is the 36^th book in the Last Mountain Man Series by William W. Johnstone. This one was written by J. A. Johnstone. Reece Van Arndt just can’t get any luck. He is an outlaw so he doesn’t deserve any. Smoke Jensen has put Van Arndt in jail before and now Van Arndt is out and looking to continue his evil ways. Unfortunately for Van Arndt, Smoke always seems to be in his way. After another botched robbery attempt by Van Arndt, he hatches a plan that will surely bring down the wrath of Smoke. Van Arndt kidnaps Sally Jensen, Smoke’s wife, and “violence” is the appropriate word for what Smoke is going to do to Van Arndt.

Now Morgan is a drifter with a reputation as a lightening fast gunman. Frank has drifted to Barnwell’s Crossing, New Mexico Territory just in time to stand for the town against two gangs of outlaws. It is up to Frank to stop him. Frank is cut from the same cloth as Smoke Jensen in The Last Mountain Man series. This is an entertaining series by Johnstone.

The Blackfeet have been stirred up and given modern guns by a couple of British agents.

The cattle barons are trying to be convinced to convert from longhorns to Hereford’s because there is more good meat on the hoof. Basically, the longhorn is a rangier cow and the Hereford’s are bigger. While he is there, he has a run-in with a group of bank robbers and other unsavory characters.

Guns of the Mountain Man is the twenty-fourth installment of The Last Mountain Man series by William W. Johnstone. In this book Calvin Woods (Cal) is shot by some outlaws as they are going across Smoke Jensen’s Sugarloaf ranch. It is touch and go for a while with Cal. Once Smoke is sure Cal is out of the woods, he will use everything in his power to bring the outlaws to justice. With the help of a few of his old friends, including Joey Wells and Louis Longmont, Smoke goes after Lazarus Cain and his band of outlaws. This is another standard good read by Johnstone. I never get tired of these books.

Deadly Trail is the second book I have read of the Matt Jensen: The Last Mountain Man series by William W. Johnstone with J. A. Johnstone. In this book, Matt Jensen, is in the right place at the right time to help catch outlaws who are bank robbers, train robbers, murders and kidnappers. Matt also meets Layne McKenzie the governor of Colorado’s niece. I’m predicting that this is the beginning of a relationship that will last many years.

Matt Jensen: The Last Mountain Man Series by William W. Johnstone with J. A. Johnstone is a series about Smoke Jensen’s adopted son, Matt Jensen. This is interesting because as far as I know, Matt Jensen appeared after William W. Johnstone’s death, but the books are written in the same spirit as the original Last Mountain Man Series.

In Talons of Eagles , the third book in the Eagles Series by William W. Johnstone, Jamie Ian MacCallister leads a group of Confederate Marauders in various Civil War battles. MacCallister has decided to fight for the South based on the issue of the federal government staying out of people’s business. Some of his sons are fighting for the North. After the war is over, there are people that cannot let the war end and they try to hunt down MacCallister. I don’t think they counted on the skills of MacCallister and his ability to stay alive while putting down the enemy.

We go through his court-martial trial and the circumstances surrounding it. Art dispenses his own brand of justice to those that need it, much like his great great grandfather, Smoke Jensen, did 125 years before. I liked this book.
