Typhoon Season is the 14^th book in the Carrier Series by Keith Douglass. In this book, an American yacht has a run in with the Chinese military. The USS Jefferson is in the area to either avert a war between China and the United States or to fire the first shots. To help matters, Tombstone is sent to Hong Kong where he is promptly abducted. Now the Chinese have a senior US Admiral in their custody.

Indiana Jones and the Sky Pirates by Martin Caidin was one of a few Indiana Jones books written after the Indiana Jones movies came out. This book follows the adventures of Indy as he takes on an evil global organization bent on world power. Indy starts investigating heists involving some type of air power. Remember this is the early 1900s so it is very mysterious. All in all, this not a great book, but an okay read.

Treasure of Khan by Clive Cussler and Dirk Cussler

Treasure of Khan is a Dirk Pitt novel by Clive Cussler and Dirk Cussler. In this book, Dirk and his team are researching in Lake Baikal in Siberia when they are hit by a Seiche. What is a Seiche you might say? A Seiche is a tidal wave on fresh water. This one was caused by an underwater landslide. Dirk escapes the wave; however, some of the folks with him disappear. Dirk is determined to find them. His adventures take him to Mongolia where he runs into an evil company, Avarga Oil Consortium, with a wicked plot. In the meantime, there is some interesting tie ins to Genghis Khan and his rule in China.

Sacred Stone by Clive Cussler and Craig Dirgo is an Oregon Files novel. In this book, the team from the Oregon must track down the “Sacred Stone” discovered by Eric the Red in Greenland. An archaeologist has found Eric the Red’s shrine to the meteor and there is a race to recover the meteor. Multiple organizations want the radioactive stone for various purposes. One’s a terrorist and another has a plot to destroy Islam. Juan Cabrillo and his team must recover the stone before any of the plots come to fruition. This is a great book in typical Cussler fashion.

The Atlantis Prophecy by Thomas Greanias

The Atlantis Prophecy is another adventure of Conrad Yeats by Thomas Greanias. In this book, Yeats dead father starts him on a trail where he must follow the clues left by George Washington. He comes across the beautiful nun, Serena Serghetti (Mother Earth) again and their powerful relationship reignites (not in an inappropriate way for a nun though). The clock is ticking and Yeats must work with Sister Serghetti in order to stop the destruction of the United States. This is a Mason/Atlantis type adventure novel so if you like Dan Brown, you will probably like this book also.

Splintered Icon by Bill Napier is a terrific book. This book is the style of the religious relic searches with codes and old manuscripts and religious fanatics. Harry Blake is an antique map trader and he is given a translation of an ancient manuscript from someone that was on Sir Walter Raleigh’s Roanoke expedition. This leads to a trip halfway around the world and attempts to coerce the key out of Harry, Zola Khan and Debbie Tebbet daughter of Sir Toby Tebbet the owner of the manuscript. I highly recommend this book if you like the Dan Brown type books.

Zulu Plus Ten is the fifth book in the Talon Force Series by Cliff Garnet. In this book, the team must head to Guam to investigate missing women. Tracking down the disappearances takes the team to the tunnels of Iwo Jima and Mt. Suribachi. They must also deal with some Japanese shoguns along the way.

The Doomsday Warrior Series by Ryder Stacy is about post World War III America. One hundred years before, the Soviet Union launched a surprise attack and now runs the United States under their heavy hand. The Doomsday Warrior, Ted Rockson, leads his own brand of attacks against the Soviet oppressors. This series was written in the mid 1980s so there is certainly the late Cold War spin on the books. I love these post World War III books and this series is also great. Other great post World War III books are the Ashes Series by William W. Johnstone and the EndWorld Series by David Robbins .

Eye of the Storm by Jack Higgins is a book about Sean Dillon. In this book Dillon and a former friend from the IRA, Martin Brosnan, go head to head. Dillon is a terrorist who plans an attack on the British government and we wonder was it staged by Saddam Hussein, the KGB, some other terrorist organization? The people that have to stop Dillon are the same people he will work for down the road.

By Order of the President is the first book in the Presidential Agent Series by W.E.B. Griffin. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this new series. It is always daunting to me when my books are more than 500 pages. I like to start and finish and this one was a little long, but it was worth it.

A leased Boeing 727 goes missing in Africa and it is believed to be hijacked. The United States intelligence agencies cannot agree on what happened to the plane. With the help of a Russian arms trader (with ties to the CIA), Charley Castillo, the assistant to the Secretary of Homeland Security, uses resources that are outside the box to track the plane. This book had some great comedic interplay between the characters. It is especially amusing when Charley, who is also a Major, “suggests” generals take certain actions. Is he a Major giving orders to Generals? Is he acting on behalf of the Secretary of Homeland Security or even the President?

Casca the Liberator by Paul Dengelegi is the 23rd book in Barry Sadler’s Casca Series. This book was written by Paul Dengelegi under Sadler’s name. In this book, the ship Casca is traveling on is sunk by pirates off the coast of Africa. Casca spends years underwater until he is drug up by African fisherman who takes Casca to be a god who is going to free their village. This was my introduction to the Casca Series and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m going to track down the other books in the series at some point.

The Casca Series of books are about our hero Casca who is immortally cursed to live the life of a warrior for all time. Casca was a Roman soldier who was cursed by Christ on the Cross to fight forever until Christ returns. These books are written by a variety of authors.

Also check out the official Casca Series website at www.casca.net which is run by Tony Roberts who is an author in the later Casca books. I can’t wait to pick up one of the books in the series written by Tony!

Bolan has to deal with potential traitors in the Drug Enforcement Agency and triads with tons of firepower. I think in this book, Bolan must take out 75 bad guys!

The Executioner series has a large number of books about Mack Bolan who is a freelance enforcer taking on bad guys around the world. Bolan has an unbelievable knack for killing his adversaries. Sometimes he takes out 50 per book. Bolan learned his trade in Vietnam and now works with intelligence from the United States government, but they have plausible deniability for his actions. The series is Don Pendleton’s The Executioner. I have no idea who actually writes these books. One of these days, I’m going to go figure that out. If anyone knows, comment please.
